Radiation Therapy

If you need radiation therapy to treat your cancer, feel at ease when you come to HealthAlliance Hospital. We understand that cancer can be scary, and we will be there for you every step of the way.

Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to attack cancer cells.  It may be used for curing a particular cancer, to stop it from spreading or to alleviate pain. Radiation therapy prevents cancer cells from repairing themselves.

The Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center, located on the Burbank Campus in Fitchburg, delivers thousands of radiation therapy treatments a year. Together with other specialists from medical oncology, pathology and diagnostic radiology, radiation oncologists create treatment plans that minimize radiation exposure.
