Volunteer Services connects skilled volunteers with the opportunity to provide help and hope to our patients, guests and staff. The vision of Volunteer Services is to be compassionate listeners and caring contributors to the hospital community.
Volunteers at Marlborough Hospital are dedicated individuals who provide a warm and welcoming environment for patients and families, while sharing their time, talent and enthusiasm. On average, more than 150 volunteers give 20,000 hours to Marlborough Hospital each year.
Each applicant is personally interviewed and placed in a position compatible with the applicant’s interests and the current needs of the hospital. Adult volunteers also include local clergy who provide encouragement and support to patients during their stay.
Teen Volunteers (ages 14 to 19)
The teen volunteer program is only available for participation during the summer school vacation months. Once accepted into the program, teens and older students attend the Volunteer Services Department’s annual orientation and training held the last week of June. Following training, teen volunteers contribute a minimum of 50 hours of service at the hospital during the summer. Many continue to volunteer throughout the school year as schedules permit.
If you would like to apply for the summer program, please email Volunteer Services between February 1 and April 1, to be placed on the mailing list to receive an application packet. Packets are sent to interested teens and older students in early May.
