Patient Story: Heart Failure Services

Zizza"For many years I had suffered from cardiomyopathy. I received my first pacemaker in 2003. After a heart transplant in 2007, I returned to UMass Memorial to receive my care. The team at UMass Memorial still takes care of me today. They determined the right course of treatment for me at the right time, and have been there for me every step of the way. In fact I feel like they’re my second family! Through it all, the team at UMass Memorial always let me and my family know there was hope.

"I can’t emphasize enough their level of thoughtful care and professional experience, and I look forward to my continued relationship with them for the rest of my (new) life. My new life includes the decision to shift gears and I began a new career in teaching, bringing my experience in interactive media and video game development to a new generation of students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. This choice has brought even greater value and happiness to my life, and it wouldn’t even have been possible without the help of the cardiovascular team at UMass Memorial."
