May 31, 2013 - Fitchburg, MA - May 22, 2013 - At the annual meeting of the HealthAlliance Hospital Guild, members proudly presented a check in the amount of $25,000 to Patrick Muldoon, President and CEO of HealthAlliance Hospital. The Annual meeting brought together 70 Guild members at the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg.
Funds were raised throughout the past year through the Guild’s volunteer efforts; including the Guild-run hospital gift shop, Annual Basket Raffle, the new Reflections Garden and many bake sales and vendor sales at the hospital. Deborah LaPointe led the meeting and stated, “The HealthAlliance Hospital Guild is honored once again, to be able to present an annual gift to the Hospital’s Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center in the amount of $25,000. Our focus will continue to be the Cancer Center as we strive to reach our $125,000 goal over a five-year period. We have $75,000 to go and know with our members and supportive community, we can do it,” stated LaPointe.
The Annual Meeting also marked the induction of new At-Large Officers: Jeanie Storrs of Century 21 Realty Team and Tom Mutti from the Office of Ronald Ansin. Retiring this year is John DiNapoli of Unitil who was membership co-chair. The Jean Grady Volunteer of the Year Award went to longstanding Guild member and Breakfast with Santa organizer, Joey D’Onfro. “It is my pleasure to name Joey as this year’s Volunteer of the Year. Her dedication to the Guild and Breakfast with Santa since 1994 is a true testament of commitment. We are truly lucky to have volunteers like Joey,” stated Guild President Deb LaPointe.
HealthAlliance Guild members are community ambassadors on behalf of the hospital who contribute gifts of time, talent and treasure at a variety of levels. Members volunteer their time to manage fundraisers like the Annual Guild Basket Raffle, or work in the hospital gift shop, and attend or support three to four Guild social events per year.
Anyone interested in joining the HealthAlliance Guild should contact the HealthAlliance Hospital Development Office at 978-466-2258.
