May 22, 2015 - Leominster, MA – Recently, Physical Therapy Plus at Whitney Field, a satellite of UMass Memorial - HealthAlliance Hospital, hosted a Myoelectric Prosthetic Certification, conducted by Touch Bionics, a leader in the field of prosthetic technologies for patients with limb deficiencies. Occupational Therapy Supervisor, Amy Roux, is now the only certified provider for functional prosthetic training in the I Limb Ultra Revolution upper extremity prosthesis in Worcester County.
“This cutting edge technology seamlessly blends form with function, and enables its users to lead an active lifestyle and improve their level of independence. It is amazing to see patients perform activities with their prosthesis that they couldn't after their injury, such as writing or opening a jar. For patients who choose to wear prosthesis after limb loss or deficiency, it can be the key to opening up a whole new world to them,” stated Amy Roux, OTR/L, CHT at Physical Therapy Plus at Whiney Field. For more information about this new service, call Physical Therapy Plus at Whitney Field, 978-534-5922.
