Volunteer Services

Volunteer Services connects skilled volunteers with the opportunity to provide help and hope to our patients, guests and staff. The vision of Volunteer Services is to be compassionate listeners and caring contributors to the hospital community.

Volunteers at UMass Memorial - Marlborough Hospital are dedicated individuals who provide a warm and welcoming environment for patients and families, while sharing their time, talent and enthusiasm. On average, more than 150 volunteers give 20,000 hours to Marlborough Hospital each year.

Adult Volunteers

Each applicant is personally interviewed and placed in a position compatible with the applicant’s interests and the current needs of the hospital.  Adult volunteers also include local clergy and members of faith affiliations who provide encouragement and support to patients during their stay. Complete an online application if you are interested in being an adult volunteer.

Student Volunteers

Student volunteering begins with applying and being accepted into the summer student volunteer program.  The program is available to high school and college students.  Once accepted into the student volunteer program, student volunteers attend an orientation and training program which takes place in June.  Typical volunteer commitment is 50 hours of service during the summer months.  After the summer program, many students continue to volunteer throughout the year.

Student volunteer applications are available from February 1 to March 1 annually.
