Marketing and Communications Team Wins Two Gold Awards and One Award of Excellence
WORCESTER, MA - UMass Memorial Health Care received three awards at the 2014 New England Society For Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) spring conference last week, including two Gold Lamplighters, the highest distinction in each individual category.
The Lamplighters were established to showcase and honor healthcare communications excellence in the New England region. The 2014 competition included 365 entries from 69 organizations throughout the region. Entries were judged by the Georgia Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations, the Illinois Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations, the Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations & Marketing and the Wisconsin Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society.
Earning top prize in the Single Item & Series Division - Potpourri category, a Gold Lamplighter, was the hospital’s collaboration with Charter TV3 on HealthWatch, a weekly health segment broadcast on Thursday evenings. The segments feature UMass Memorial physicians and other health experts who answer questions on many general health topics, educating the community about current health news.
UMass Memorial’s Marketing and Communications team also shared a Gold Lamplighter with GY&K Marketing for their combined efforts in bringing the “One Decision Campaign” to market in the Campaign Division – Total Campaign – Image/Branding category.
UMass Memorial was also recognized with an Award of Excellence in the Campaign Division - Social Media Campaign category, for the Marketing & Communications Department’s Heart Health Calendar. In this entry, the team created a heart health calendar for the month of February. Distributed via social media channels, the calendar offered 28 daily items including recipes, exercise tips and general wellness information all aimed at keeping people heart healthy.
"Hospitals, healthcare facilities and marketing/advertising agencies are submitting works of excellence to the Lamplighter Awards in record numbers," said Scott Orstad, NESHCo president. "Being recognized by the New England Society of Healthcare Communications has taken on its own stature as an acknowledgement of excellence in marketing, communications, advertising and overall strategy. We are proud that our association has created this level of recognition for New England professionals who excel in their work."
For four decades, NESHCo has served as the region's premier professional development organization for communication professionals working in the healthcare industry. The Society is composed of nearly 300 members throughout New England. For more information, visit www.neshco.org.
