Insurance And Self Pay

Billing and Insurance at UMass Memorial

UMass Memorial has established arrangements with several different types of health plans.

  • Commercial insurance plans
  • Senior Plans
  • State-Sponsored/Subsidized Plans

The SHINE Program (Serving the Health Information Needs of Everyone) provides free health insurance information, counseling and assistance to all Massachusetts residents with Medicare.

There are many commercial or traditional health insurance plans with which UMass Memorial does not participate. It can difficult to predict which services will be covered. You must check with your employer, health plan or another appropriate party to verify benefits before being seen. It's important that you know your health plan benefits.

Prescription plan cards

After your care, your doctor may prescribe take-home medications. You may choose to fill your prescriptions at a UMass Memorial Prescription Center Pharmacy or a pharmacy of your choice.

The UMass Memorial Health Care Prescription Center Pharmacy accepts cash, checks or credit cards for your copayment. Please bring all current insurance cards and prescription drug benefit cards when visiting the UMass Memorial Prescription Center.
