Patient Stories: Gastrointestinal Cancer
"I had a colonoscopy and found I needed surgery for a cancerous growth on my small bowel. My surgeon at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Maykel, was very knowledgeable about my situation. He was professional, competent and compassionate, which to me is the ideal combination. I also can't say enough about the staff at UMass Memorial. They encouraged me to get in touch with them if I had any questions or problems, and they knew what to do to solve any issue. After the surgery, I was able to return to work and get back to my normal routines. Overall, having the surgery dramatically improved my quality of life. I would highly recommend Dr. Maykel and his staff to anyone without any hesitation."
