Pediatric Urology

The Division of Pediatric Urology at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center is committed to providing high-quality, accessible care from providers you can trust. As the only dedicated pediatric urology program in Central Massachusetts, the Children’s Medical Center's pediatric urology team is ready to provide the expert health care your child deserves.

Care You Can Trust

Your child’s urologic needs may begin in the womb or only become apparent later in childhood. Your child may have a common kidney, bladder, or genital condition, or they may have been diagnosed with a complex abnormality of their genitourinary system. Our team of fellowship-trained surgeons and experienced nurse practitioner are here to provide personalized and compassionate care close to home.

Conditions Treated

The board-certified urologists leading our division perform a range of proven procedures using the latest surgical techniques and technologies. Our physicians are fellowship trained in robotic surgery for pediatric urology, and are excited to be the first pediatric surgical specialists to bring this well-established surgical approach to Central Massachusetts. Our caregivers also actively participant in the maternal-fetal medicine clinic at UMass Memorial Medical Center, where they regularly see expectant mothers with a prenatal diagnosis of urologic abnormalities.

Common pediatric urologic conditions we treat include:

  • Hernias and Hydroceles
  • Hydronephrosis
  • Labial Adhesions
  • Phimosis and Paraphimosis
  • Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV)
  • Undescended Testes
  • Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJO)
  • Ureterovesical Junction Obstruction (UVJO)
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)
  • Voiding Dysfunction

Additionally, our experienced and dedicated nurse practitioner runs the popular voiding improvement clinic for children at the Children’s Medical Center. For many boys and girls, frequent urinary tract infections and urinary accidents can be linked to abnormal anatomy or bathroom habits. Our team provides timely diagnosis and treatment that can help even the most serious voiding dysfunctions.
