Hearing Implant Program

If you, your child or loved one is struggling with hearing aids and seeking increased access to sound, look no further than UMass Memorial Medical Center.

The Hearing Implant Program at UMass Memorial Medical Center is a multidisciplinary pediatric and adult cochlear implant program, which began in 1998. The center is based on our University Campus in the Departments of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and Audiology. Our collaborative approach to care ensures that our patients have access to several disciplines within our program that are found to be an integral part of the cochlear implant journey. Within our Hearing Implant Program, patients will work with our highly trained team of Audiologists and Otologists as well as our Speech Language Pathologist who will all provide pre- and post-operative care to our candidates and recipients. We have an on-site Care Coordinator who will ensure you are scheduled with all appropriate appointments as well as be your liaison to your team of providers.

The Hearing Implant Program team provides specialized services for prospective and current cochlear implant patients and their families. Our mission is to provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, counseling, treatment, and post-treatment services to hearing impaired infants, children and adults. Studies have shown that these components are crucial for maximizing patient outcomes following cochlear implantation. The Program also engages in a wide range of post-implantation training and education that focuses on helping every pediatric and adult cochlear implant recipient realize their hearing potential.

For added confidence, our program is one of the most comprehensive cochlear implant centers in New England and the only one in Central Massachusetts. We serve patients from as far away as Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and New York.
