Services We Provide

The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Clinic at UMass Memorial Medical Center takes an individualized treatment approach to each patient’s unique medical and lifestyle needs. The cutting-edge treatments we offer include:

  • Medication management using the latest FDA-approved medical therapies
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapies to optimize each patient’s abilities and quality of life
  • Evaluation for deep brain stimulation surgery and deep brain stimulator programming
  • Botulinum toxin injections, which have been shown to be effective in treating cervical dystonias such as hemifacial spasm (involuntary muscle contractions on one side of the face), blepharospasm (involuntary tight closing of the eyelids), and spasticity after a stroke or in some cases of cerebral palsy

When appropriate, we also provide streamlined access to genetic testing and counseling services at UMass Memorial to help family members understand their risks for inherited movement disorders.

Equally important, we devote a great deal of time to patient and family education. We believe that an informed patient is an empowered patient, and we spend the time necessary to ensure that you, your loved ones and caregivers understand your condition and the resources available to you.
