Patients with critical and complex orthopedic injuries receive rapid access by ambulance or Life Flight air ambulance to the Duddie Massad Emergency and Trauma Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Staffed with emergency medicine specialists and subspecialists, including orthopedic trauma experts, patients will receive comprehensive medical care.

Emergency Care for Orthopedic Injuries in Central Massachusetts

More than half of all patients admitted to trauma centers have orthopedic injuries—damage to their muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. These injuries need the immediate attention of orthopedic specialists.  

At UMass Memorial Medical Center, the injuries we treat include:

  • Broken bones, such as the leg, hip, and arm
  • Stress fractures of the foot and wrist

Physical Therapists in Central Massachusetts

After an injury, you may need physical therapy to regain full strength and function. Your orthopedic specialist will work closely with your physical therapist to prepare a personalized physical rehabilitation treatment program that’s right for you.
