About Our Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery represents one of the broadest groups within UMass Memorial Medical Center, with 10 divisions on the University, Memorial, and Hahnemann campuses in Worcester, MA. We also provide specialty care through our member hospitals and at clinical office locations in the community.

As part of a major academic medical center partnered with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, we are proud to lead and participate in scores of clinical trials to not only further the world’s understanding of disease and treatment, but to offer our patients access to innovative therapies. The Department of Surgery at UMass Memorial also oversees several training programs for medical students and surgical residents and fellows, training the next generation of doctors to provide advanced but compassionate, effective care for patients today.
