The UMass Memorial Weight Center provides a patient-focused bariatric surgery program designed to help adults struggling with obesity and weight-related diseases. Surgical procedures, such as gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, are generally considered for a select group of patients with body mass index (BMI) greater than 40, or 35 if patients have certain associated medical conditions. Pre- and post-surgical appointments with our medical, nutritional and behavioral specialists help you make a lifelong commitment to improved health.
All patients interested in weight loss surgery at UMass Memorial are required to complete an orientation. For your convenience, we have three easy ways to get started. Choose one that works for you.
