The Trauma Center is located at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester – home to Life Flight, the region's only air ambulance – and is the only Level One Trauma Center for adults and children in Central Massachusetts. In fact, we've been verified as a Level One center by the American College of Surgeons since 1987. This means you get an unmatched depth of experience and a higher standard of care when you need it most.
The Duddie Massad Emergency and Trauma Center
The Duddie Massad Emergency and Trauma Center cares for the most severely injured patients from across the region, from the time of injury and transfer to our care, to discharge and rehabilitation. The Trauma Center is the most technologically advanced emergency care facility in the area and is supported by dedicated operating rooms, intensive care units and nearby X-ray and imaging suites.
Our skilled trauma surgeons provide around-the-clock, cutting-edge emergency and trauma care for thousands of adults and children from throughout Central and Western Massachusetts every year.
We also have a specialized NeuroTrauma Intensive Care Unit to provide the highest level of treatment for patients with brain injuries.
