Support Groups

The UMass Memorial Medical Center Audiology Program is pleased to announce the introduction of the Hear Always pediatric and adult support groups. These support groups are open to adults and families of children with hearing impairment who may be considering rehabilitative options. This includes patients/families who are considering or have hearing aids, or are considering or have a cochlear implant. You do not have to be a patient of UMass Memorial to attend any of these meetings.

These meetings will provide a safe and private atmosphere for patient’s to meet and discuss various topics that arise whether you yourself have a hearing impairment or you are the caretaker of someone who does. There may be guest speakers from time to time but there will always be ample time to socialize with other attendees.

We find this to be a great resource for patient’s and their families as you are able to hear of the experiences of others who may find the same situations challenging as you.

The next meeting, “Amputee Coalition Conference/Medicare Proposal," is scheduled for September 17, at 6pm, and will be facilitated by Rose Bissonnette, Founder of the New England Amputee Association.

Rose attended the Amputee Coalition conference in July of this year and will be presenting on the wealth of information that she learned at this year’s conference including new vendor items for amputees.  We will also be updating everyone on the Medicare propose changes that will impact lower limb amputees.  This is a very important meeting so do not miss the opportunity to attend.
