Pharmacy Residency Program at the Medical Center
UMass Memorial Medical Center is a 700+ bed academic medical center and is part of UMass Memorial Health Care, the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts. We are the clinical partner of UMass Medical School, with access to the latest technology, research and clinical trials. The Medical Center consists of three campuses in Worcester, MA: University Campus, Memorial Campus, and Hahnemann Campus. It offers care in over 41 different service areas. The Emergency Department at UMass Memorial Medical Center is the only center in the region that is verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level I Trauma Center. We also have the only Level III neonatal ICU in the region.
The pharmacy residency program started in 1995 with one resident. We have since grown to 12 residents, making our program one of the largest pharmacy residencies in New England. Our program offers six positions for the PGY1 residency program with an additional six positions for extended training in specialty areas including:
- PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
- PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency Program
- PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program
- PGY2 Medication Use Safety Pharmacy Residency Program
- PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency Program
Over the years, we have made a significant impact on patient care by becoming an integral part of the medical teams through working directly on the hospital floors.
We strive for excellence in the training of pharmacy residents, providing a positive and rewarding learning experience. Our program has developed residency graduates who have obtained positions as faculty members at colleges of pharmacy, clinical specialists at large academic medical centers, leadership and administrator positions at health care institutions.
