Unless this is an emergency, all patients are requested to follow these guidelines.
In order to complete the UMass Memorial Medical Center registration process, ensure accurate billings to insurance companies, and get results to the correct doctors, the patient or guardian is responsible for providing accurate information at the time of registration.
Please present the following:
- Government-issued photo ID (Why we ask for this)
- Current insurance card

Preregistered patients may need to stop at registration prior to their visit even if they have already registered. Patients will receive these instructions when preregistering.
For more information, call 508-334-9902.
Patients with appointments to see a specialty physician and whose health plan requires that an insurance referral be generated through their primary care physician (PCP) should contact their PCP one week prior to the appointment to ensure the referral is on file or patients will be contacted to reschedule the appointment.
Copayments, patient balances and deductibles are expected at the time of service. Our staff can assist patients in making payment arrangements as needed. We accept cash, check, MasterCard and Visa. Payment plans are also available.
An enrollment counselor will contact patients without insurance prior to their appointment to arrange a meeting to screen for Mass Health and free care programs to cover outstanding balances and/or future hospital costs. For more information, call 508-334-9300.
Please note: Latex Balloons No Longer Allowed at Medical Center
Due to allergic reactions to latex and the possible choking hazard for our pediatric patients, these balloons are no longer allowed. Mylar balloons are acceptable to bring into the hospital.
